If you're needing our foundation repair products to prevent your home from sinking, or crawl space services to control humidity below the home, our experts are here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
