Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
