Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing these problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
