Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
