Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at noticing these issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
