Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
