Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down those problems. We can utilize a repair product designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
