Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
