Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, they were built with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
