Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
