It is very important that if you've seen an issue with the foundation or crawl space that you reach out to a trusted repair company. We recommend this as there are quite a few potentially dangerous problems that will happen along with these issues such as mildew, reduced structural integrity, and even catastrophic foundation damage. If you need our foundation repair services to prevent your home from sinking, or crawl space services to control humidity below the home, our team is here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can offer a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
