Crawl Space Solutions
In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
