Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
