Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
