Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
