Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
