Crawl Space Solutions
In Tasley, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at tracking down those problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
