Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
