Crawl Space Solutions
In Tasley, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down those issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
