Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at noticing these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
