Crawl Space Solutions
In Tasley, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
