Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
