It is critical that if you see a problem with your foundation or crawl space that you contact an experienced repair company. We recommend this as there are some potentially dangerous problems that can arise with these issues including mildew, structural damage, and even catastrophic foundation damage. If you're needing our foundation repair services to prevent your home from sinking, or crawl space services to prevent damage to your floor joists, our experts are here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In Tasley, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
