Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For a long time, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
