Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at tracking down these problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
