Crawl Space Solutions

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
