Crawl Space Solutions

In Severn, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
