Crawl Space Solutions

In Schley, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating these problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
