Crawl Space Solutions
In Schley, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
