Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, they were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing these problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
