Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were built with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to lift sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at spotting those issues. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
