Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
