Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at noticing these issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
