In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering.
