Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at spotting those problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
