Crawl Space Solutions

Sagging Floors in Rescue

In Rescue, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Stair Step Crack Repair in Rescue

Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
