Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Jacks in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
