Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing these issues. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
