Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
