Sagging Floors in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Cracks in Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.

Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
