Crawl Space Solutions

In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.

This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
