In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
