Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Jacks in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.

It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at tracking down those issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
