Sagging Floors in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Stair Step Crack Repair in Rescue

The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.

It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
