Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
