Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at tracking down those problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
