Crawl Space Solutions

Sagging Floors in Rescue

In Rescue, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
