Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Jacks in Rescue

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
