Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Jacks in Rescue

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down these problems. We can offer a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
