Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
