Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at tracking down those issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
