Sagging Floors in Rescue

In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.

It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting those issues. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
