Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Cracks in Rescue

Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing these problems. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
