Crawl Space Solutions

Sagging Floors in Rescue

In Rescue, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
