Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
