Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to lift sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
