Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating those issues. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
