Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at spotting these problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
