Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Cracks in Rescue

Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.

It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
