Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at evaluating these problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
