Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
