Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
