Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Cracks in Rescue

Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.

It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can utilize a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
