Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating these issues. We can implement a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
