Crawl Space Solutions

Sagging Floors in Rescue

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent bugs and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Stair Step Crack Repair in Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
