Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
