Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
