Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
