Crawl Space Solutions

Sagging Floors in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Cracks in Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.

It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing these issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
