Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Jacks in Rescue

In Rescue, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.

JB Design has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.

It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
