Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.

We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Rescue

Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.

It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating these issues. We can implement a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
