Crawl Space Solutions
In Rescue, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at tracking down those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
