Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Rescue

In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.

Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.

Structural Foundation Repair

Stair Step Crack Repair in Rescue

Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.

It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
