Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
