Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
