Crawl Space Solutions
In Moon, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
