Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can utilize a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
