Crawl Space Solutions
In Moon, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
