Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can utilize a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
