Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down those problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
