Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
