Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing those issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
