Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, they were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair solution designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
