It is very important that as soon as you find an issue with your foundation or crawl space that you reach out to an experienced repair company. We recommend this as there are some potentially dangerous problems that will happen along with these issues such as mildew, structural damage, and even catastrophic foundation damage. It doesn't matter if you need our foundation repair products to prevent your home from sinking, or crawl space services to control humidity below the home, our experts are here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In Melfa, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
