Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
