Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at tracking down those issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
