Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
