Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
