Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
