Crawl Space Solutions

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing these issues. We can offer a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
