Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
