Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting these problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
