Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing these issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
