Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
