Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can utilize a repair product designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
