Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
