Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
