Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can implement a repair product designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
