Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at noticing these issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
