Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
