Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to lift sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
