Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Hampton Roads

In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Hampton Roads

Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting these issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
