Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
