Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating these problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
