Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to lift sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at noticing these problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
