Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
