Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at tracking down these issues. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
