Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
