Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down those problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
