Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
