Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
