Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
