Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down those issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
