Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
