Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
