Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing these problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
