Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting those problems. We can implement a repair product designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
