Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
