Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop rodents and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at spotting these problems. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
