Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
