Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at spotting these problems. We can implement a repair solution that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
