Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down those issues. We can offer a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
