Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a system of floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
