Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
