Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
