Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a sinking foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
