Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing these issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
