Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, these were built with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
