Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
