Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
