Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at tracking down those problems. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
