Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
