Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For a long time, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
