Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating these problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
