Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
