Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair product that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
