Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, they were constructed with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at evaluating those issues. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sinking foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
