Crawl Space Solutions

In the greater Virginia Beach area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, they will generally present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those problems. We can offer a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
