Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
