Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
