Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a system of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
