Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. For a long time, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
