Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop bugs and animals from moving in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
