Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at spotting these problems. We can utilize a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sloping foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
