Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at evaluating those issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a sloping foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
