Crawl Space Solutions
In the greater Virginia Beach area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For many years, these were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.

We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent rodents and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
