Crawl Space Solutions
In Diggs, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent bugs and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing these issues. We can implement a repair product designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
