Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at noticing these problems. We can offer a repair product designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
