Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you've got a sinking foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
