It is critical that once you've seen a problem with the crawl space or foundation that you get in touch with a trusted repair company. We say this because there are quite a few potentially dangerous problems that will accompany these issues such as mildew, reduced structural integrity, and even permanent foundation damage. It doesn't matter if you require our foundation repair services to prevent your home from sinking, or crawl space services to prevent mildew growth in the crawl space, our team is here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces and not basements. For a long time, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
