Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at tracking down those problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
