Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were built with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can close off the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in your brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
