Crawl Space Solutions

In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down those problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
