Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows and doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at tracking down these issues. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a sinking foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
