Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working with crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if you need it we can install a system of floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those issues. We can offer a repair solution intended for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
