Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were constructed with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.

We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage.
