Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the elements and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair solution intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
