Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were created with vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as stair-step cracks in the outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the doors and windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at noticing these issues. We can offer a repair solution designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
