Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves as stair stepping cracks in the outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
