Crawl Space Solutions
In Cardinal, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent critters and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
