Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to level sinking floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting these issues. We can offer a repair solution that is for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a uneven foundation, we will implement a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
