Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at noticing these problems. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sinking foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
