Crawl Space Solutions
In Cardinal, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. We have found that up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been enclosing crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. This is done using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to stabilize sloping floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem critical at first, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can offer a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
