Crawl Space Solutions
In Cardinal, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for particular problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at evaluating these problems. We can utilize a repair solution designed for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sloping foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
