Crawl Space Solutions
In Cardinal, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces and not basements. For many years, these were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is protected, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can offer a repair product that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you've got a uneven foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
