Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, these were constructed with vents which was intended to increase air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop critters and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that the windows or doors will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can offer a repair solution intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
