Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Cardinal

In our area, there are many homes that were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can close off the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.

Structural Foundation Repair

Foundation Settlement Repair Cardinal

Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only supports the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, normally they will present themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.

Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at tracking down these issues. We can implement a repair solution that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
