Crawl Space Solutions

In Cardinal, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control the humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent bugs and animals from settling in your crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is protected, if you need it we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair

The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the outside brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that the doors and windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at evaluating these issues. We can offer a repair solution designed for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If there is a settling foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
