Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For many years, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home comes up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent rodents and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, normally they will show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or even cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for particular problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our professionals are very good at noticing these issues. We can utilize a repair product that is for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
