Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the weather and controlling excess humidity can improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been encapsulating crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control high humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we can install a series of floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the building itself but it also is the basement walls. If there are foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation which should be looked at by a professional for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a sinking foundation, we can implement a series of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
