Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl spaces and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with open vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low can improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been encapsulating crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are heavy duty plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in the crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if necessary we can install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the home itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you have any foundation problems, they will generally present themselves as stair-step cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our professionals are very good at evaluating those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
