Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were constructed with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity will increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working on crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a system of sagging floor jacks to lift sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will present themselves as stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or across the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows and doors will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at evaluating these problems. We can offer a repair solution designed for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
