Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas instead of basements. For many years, these were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been helping customers with their crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to close them off and control the humidity. This is done using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a series of vapor barriers, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a sturdy door that will close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only holds the home itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you have any foundation problems, they will generally manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors or windows will get stuck or even cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem critical when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our professionals are very good at noticing these problems. We can offer a repair solution designed for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a sloping foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
