Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl space areas in addition to basements. For many years, they were built with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can foster the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring this area is closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been helping customers with their crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the proper way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are strong plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can seal the area completely and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also stop rodents and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we can install a series of floor jacks to repair sinking floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem serious at first, they are all indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be performed.
It is good that the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can implement a repair product intended for your particular problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a settling foundation, we can install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. The location and amount of sinking will determine if we use helical or push piers. Both types of piers are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
