Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were built with open vents which was intended to increase air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to get in when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually harbor the growth of mildew. Up to ½ of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so having the space protected from the outside and controlling excess humidity can increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been enclosing crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control the humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that can close off the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we can install a system of sagging floor jacks to level sagging floors in your home.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your homes foundation is easily one of the most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves in the form of stair-step cracks in your outside brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along basement walls. You may also notice that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, the most common foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at tracking down these problems. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If you have a settling foundation, we can implement a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
