Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. As long as there have been crawl spaces, they were created with vents which was intended to increase fresh air flow through the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which causes the humidity levels to stay high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to 50% of the air in your home can come up through the crawl space so ensuring the crawl space is protected from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been dealing with crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the most efficient way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are strong plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and stop any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop critters and animals from getting in your crawl space which will keep any appliances there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, if necessary we will install a series of floor jacks to stabilize sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is easily one of the most important parts. It not only supports the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves as diagonal cracks in the brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows will stick when you open or close them or even cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem problematic at first, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for specific problems to determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
It is good that many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at noticing these issues. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your particular issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
