We recommend this because there are quite a few potentially dangerous issues that can happen along with these issues such as mildew, reduced structural integrity, and even catastrophic foundation damage. If you need our foundation repair services to stop cracks from growing in the foundation, or crawl space services to control water in the crawl space, our team is here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, they were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in when it rains or snows and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. We have found that up to ½ of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so ensuring this area is protected from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
Our team has been working with crawl spaces since 1995 and we know the best way to seal them off and control excess humidity. This is done using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, which are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheeting as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area totally and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. This will also prevent pests and animals from settling in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a series of sagging floor jacks to lift sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also creates the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your windows or doors will stick when you open or close them or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these issues may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that the most common foundation problems are caused by similar things and our experts are very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a settling foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
