It is very important that if you find a problem with your crawl space or foundation that you reach out to an experienced repair company. We recommend this as there are a number of potentially dangerous issues that can arise with these issues such as mildew, reduced structural integrity, and even permanent foundation damage. It doesn't matter if you require our foundation repair services to stabilize your foundation, or crawl space services to control humidity below the home, our professionals are here to help you.
Crawl Space Solutions
In Belle Haven, many of the homes are built with crawl space areas and not basements. For a long time, these were constructed with open vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. Having open vents allows water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which results in the humidity level staying too high which can facilitate the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the elements and controlling excess humidity will improve the overall air quality in your home.
JB Design has been helping customers with their crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the proper way to close them off and control high humidity. We do this using a method called encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, sometimes accompanied by insulation products, and are sturdy plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will seal the area completely and prevent any unwanted moisture from entering. Closing the area will also prevent rodents and animals from moving in your crawl space which will keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is encapsulated, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to repair sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
Your foundation is quite possibly one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the structure itself but it also is the basement walls. When there are foundation problems, usually, they will show themselves as diagonal cracks in your outside brickwork, long cracks that run along the foundation or along basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that your doors or windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these issues seem serious when you notice them, each of them are indicators of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for problems to determine if a repair needs to be in place.
It is good that many foundation problems have very similar causes and our experts are very good at spotting those issues. We can implement a repair product intended for your specific issue to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If the problem is a uneven foundation, we will implement a system of foundation piers to level the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation.
