Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces instead of basements. For a long time, these were built with vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, the opposite is usually what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space during rain and snow storms and the vents hinder airflow which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to 50% of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will improve the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces since we opened our doors and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a method known as encapsulation which is the installation of a heavy duty liner, occasionally installed with insulation products, and are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as vent covers and a heavy duty door that will close off the area completely and stop any excess moisture from entering. Closing the area will also stop pests and animals from moving in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After your crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a series of floor jacks to repair sloping floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important areas of the home. It not only supports the home itself but it also is the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, they will generally show themselves as stair stepping cracks in your brickwork, cracks that run along the foundation or along the basement walls. You may also notice that your doors and windows will not open or close easily or there may be cracks at the corners of them. You may not think these problems seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and it is important to have an expert evaluate the foundation for problems and determine what type of a repair needs to be installed.
Thankfully, many foundation problems stem from similar issues and our experts are very good at noticing those issues. We can implement a repair solution designed for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation or walls. If you have a uneven foundation, we will install a series of foundation piers to correct the problem. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types of piers are very strong and are able to stabilize your foundation.
