Crawl Space Solutions
In our area, many of the homes were built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For many years, they were created with open vents to the outside where were intended to help air flow through the space and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. Having open vents allows water to get in during rain and snow storms and the vents prevent proper evaporation which results in the humidity level staying too high which can harbor the growth of mildew. Up to half of the air in your home enters through the crawl space so having the space protected from the weather and keeping the humidity levels low will increase the overall air quality in your home.
We have been working on crawl spaces as long as we have been in business and we know the most efficient way to seal them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process known as encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that will close off the area totally and stop any excess moisture from entering. This will also stop pests and animals from getting in the crawl space which will help keep any equipment there safe and allow you to use it for storage. Once the crawl space is closed off, if you need it we will install a system of floor jacks to level sagging floors above the crawl space.
Structural Foundation Repair
The foundation of your home is quite possibly one of the most important areas of the home. It not only holds the structure itself but it also forms the basement walls. If you've got foundation problems, usually, they will manifest themselves in the form of stair stepping cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or along the basement walls. Sometimes, you will see that the windows or doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. While these problems may not seem problematic when you notice them, each of them are indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems and determine if a repair needs to be in place.
Thankfully, many foundation problems have very similar causes and our team is very good at noticing those problems. We can utilize a repair solution that is for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we will install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. We will install either push piers or helical piers, depending on where and how bad the sinking is. Both types are very strong and can stabilize your foundation.
